Volunteer fans are off to a good start supporting their team in a real road environment.
College football fans love to travel, and when the season officially begins, it's the return of fans taking road trips to see their teams play. Before this week's listings even begin, Tennessee fans may have won this week's award for Best Traveling Fan Base. As the Volunteers played in Pittsburgh this week, Tennessee fans kicked off the Pirates game Friday night, chanting together "It's great to be Tennessee Vol." It certainly helps keep the Pirates in the lower 0.500s, which makes it unlikely that PNC Park will sell out tickets and allow fans of any other team to take over the stadium. The #2
volunteers are looking to start 2-0, but must first get past the #17 team from Pittsburgh. If Tennessee can pull off a real road game win, it will be a big win out of conference as the team heads into the tough part of the SEC's schedule. As a result, the Volunteer fans seem to be doing their part to create a more friendly atmosphere for their team against the Panthers.
