Boys Soccer Player of the Year: Dupablo Parodis-Yu carried scoring load to lead young Oswego East team to another successful year

Oswego East senior Dupablo Parodis-Yu, who scored 62% of his team's points in leading a very young team to another  winning season, is the Record Pages Boys Soccer Player of the Year.

Dupablo Parodis-Yu isn't the kind of kid who craves attention, but when you do what he does on the football field, it's impossible not to notice how special the Oswego East senior has been to the Wolves. A year after leading the most successful team in program history in assists, Parodis-Yu accounted for 62% of the team's points this fall, leading a court team to another  winning season. He is Rennätyslehti's boy player of the year. "We talked to all the guys at the end of the season and  when we were doing tryouts and I basically told him you have to carry the load for us," Wolves coach Steve Szymanski said. "I told him  he was going to get killed out there because every team knew he was the guy, so he was going to be fouled, but he was tough. For a 130-pound guy, he never backed down. He was tough. player to we." He never shied away from a challenge in the beautiful game. Parodis-Yu knew that this year would not be easy, but he also understood the importance of his role  in the team's success. or lack thereof. He should communicate more, take  a bigger leadership role and become more of a scorer than a playmaker. In the end he would do anything. "It was hard to be someone  my team relied on and build other teams up during games, but I just found a way to get through it and get better," Parodis-Yu said. "I don't think this season was more physical than any other season, but I had to change the way I played a little bit to adapt to the new team." Oswego East (9-7-

) returns just four players from last year's team that won the first regional championship in program history. Senior defenseman Drew Karg and junior goaltender Javi Ruiz returned to the starting lineup, while Parodis-Yu's twin brother Zedaniel, who was the first man off the bench last year, moved into a more prominent starting role. - Dupablo impressed me the most  this season, how he can score so many goals and assists on his own, said Zedaniel Parodis-Yu. - I enjoyed the fact that I still managed to  do well, even though our team may not be the same as last year. It was good to still have a reliable team to work with and I think we did very well this season. Dupablo Parodis-Yu (9) of Oswego East tackles Killyan Avila (10) of Oswego during a football game Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at Oswego East High School. (Sean King, Shaw Local) Last season at Dupablo Parodi- Yu led the Wolves with 12 assists and nine goals for a team that won district honors for the first time and enjoyed a season-best 17-5-1 record. This year, he found the back of the net 22 times and had 11 assists, scoring 55 points and helping the Wolves to another winning season. “He had 31 goals and 2

 assists in

1 college games, which is pretty impressive,” Szymanski said. "He was something pretty special." He won't tell you about it either. Rather, he has always been a humble kid who lets his actions speak for him. "He's never been that loud a guy and he's a very quiet guy, so he doesn't yell at others," Szymanski said. "His game is that when he gets the ball, everyone is paying attention to him. They all want to see him do something special." As the goal that became the 2022 Parodis-Yu special.
